PET CEREMONIES
Robyn Wagner CelebrationsIn June 2009, I was invited to perform a Pet Ceremony of a wedding between 2 dogs, at the annual GCCC Pet Expo at Varsity Lakes. This was a lot of fun and a great time was had by all involved
Your pet is a loved member of your family for their lifetime.
It doesn’t matter if your special friend is a dog, cat, guinea pig, snake, goldfish or any other animal. All pets should be treated as cherished family members, and I know that some pets have a better lifestyle than some of us because they have caring and loving owners and are reated very well.
Pets give us so much joy and enrich our lives.
They give us unconditional love, companionship and friendship and ask us for nothing in return, except maybe a good bone or bowl of smackos’.
A Pet Ceremony can be the joyous occasion of welcoming a new pet into their family and recognise that they now have a new responsibility to care and look after their pet, as they would another family member.
A Pet Ceremony can also be a funeral ceremony, to grieve the loss of a beloved pet, or to celebrate the life you shared with him or her.
Here is a small quote from Helen Keller that I feel sums up how most of us feel about our beloved pets;“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt from the heart.”
I am sure your pet has a special place in your heart. During your future time together, you and your pet will share good times with each other; some times will be through sickness, other times in good health. You will care for each other and share a special bond of love
(Adapted from a poem written by Liana Preston)
Each Pet we own is precious
With a meaning all of their own
Like the bond of a pet to its owner
And a strength of love that is grown.
Pets are there in times of trouble
And when you need a special friend
Your pet is the figure you rely on
And on whom you can depend.
Your pet gives you something
Only pets can portray
Of a love so pure and endless
And a joy in every way.
From the moments you share together
To your first memories of play
You view your pet with unending pride
And love, you will always keep close everyday.
Pets are very special
And no one can ever take their place
Though many loves can come and go
They’ll always have that cherished space.
